Caroline Ambrus
Caroline Ambrus (born 1938), Art and other studies: Bach. Educ. from CCAE (1975), studied at Canberra School of Art and East Sydney Tech. (1969-1971) and completed Library Assoc. of Aust. Registration Cert. (1966-1969). Ambrus has lectured on women artists at the Centres for Continuing Education at Sydney Uni., and ANU. She has established artists' studios, art galleries and lithography workshops in Canberra, Queanbeyan and Sydney. Ambrus has also written three books on women artists being: 'The Ladies Picture Show' (Hale and Iremonger 1984), 'Australian Women Artists, First Fleet to 1945, History, Hearsay and Her Say' (irrePRESSible Press 1992) and 'The Unseen Art Scene' (irrePRESSible Press 1994). She has established her publishing and printing business irrePRESSible Press (www.irrepressible.com.au) in Calwell, ACT. She has written and illustrated several children's books. Her narrative poem, co-authored with Graeme Hume, 'The Year of the Mean Queen' won the ACT Writers' Centre Children's Book of the Year award in 2005.
